When God Brings Clarity Through His Word

God is so intentional, and I don’t say that lightly. I will forever be grateful for the way He meets us exactly where we are, often in ways we don’t even realize we need.

In a previous blog, It Is Good: Celebrating What's Right In Front of Us, I shared that I’ve been reading the Bible chronologically. I originally chose that approach because I wanted a clearer understanding of the order of events. While Scripture is beautifully organized by theme, I felt drawn to see the story unfold as it happened.

What I didn’t know then was that God already knew why that structure would matter to me.

During that season, my mind felt… crowded. Overflowing with ideas, visions, and possibilities. Not random thoughts, but things I genuinely believed God was placing on my heart. And yet, instead of feeling inspired, I felt overwhelmed.

Have you ever experienced that tension? Knowing something is God-given, but still feeling unsure, stretched, or even anxious about it?

I remember praying, “God, what is going on? You are not the author of confusion. Why do I feel so overwhelmed by the very things You’ve called me to do? I have so many ideas, how do I know what to do, when to do it, and how to carry it all?”

After praying, I did what had become my rhythm: I opened my Bible and continued reading.

That day, I found myself in Exodus, reading about the building of the tabernacle.

As I read, something shifted.

The tabernacle wasn’t built in a single step. It required detailed instructions, skilled craftsmanship, sacred garments, the Ark of the Covenant, the ephod — so many moving pieces, each with its own purpose. Every element mattered. Every role was necessary. Nothing was random, rushed, or wasted.

And then it hit me:

This is my situation.

What God was calling me to build in my own life wasn’t small. It wasn’t meant to be simple or one-dimensional. It would require layers, preparation, patience, and multiple “moving parts.” The overwhelm I felt wasn’t necessarily confusion; it was the weight of something significant taking shape.

That realization made me pause and reflect:

“Is everything I’m doing actually aligned with what God has called me to do?”

And for once, without hesitation or doubt, my answer was:

Yes.

That moment brought such peace. Not because everything suddenly became easy, but because clarity replaced uncertainty. It gave me the push I needed to keep going — through discomfort, second-guessing, and the emotional ups and downs that come with growth.

One thing I’m continuing to learn is this:

We cannot live led by feelings alone. Feelings are real, but they are not always reliable. Obedience, however, anchors us. It keeps us moving forward even when the path feels stretched or unclear.

I truly treasure my relationship with God for moments like this, moments where He gently answers prayers not always through a voice, but through revelation in His Word.

If you’re in a season where you’re seeking clarity, feeling overwhelmed, or trying to discern your next steps, I want to encourage you:

Practices That Helped Me:

  • Obedience over feelings - Don’t wait to “feel ready.” Trust God enough to move when He nudges you.

  • Pray specifically for clarity - Confusion loses power when brought into God’s presence.

  • Check for alignment - Ask yourself honestly: “Does this reflect what God is calling me to?”

  • Ask for help - God didn’t assign one person to build the tabernacle. He appointed many, each with different skills and responsibilities. You are not meant to carry everything alone.

Sometimes what feels like chaos is actually construction. Sometimes, overwhelm is evidence of expansion.

And sometimes, the clarity we’re desperate for is already waiting in the pages we’ve been reading.
